Do you use plastic packaging?
We only use plastics in our shipping mailers bags and product pouches. Our shipping mailers are made from 100% recycled plastics. Our pouches are made from a food-safe polythene inner layer and a 100% recycled brown paper outer layer.
Initially, we looked into using biodegradable options after research and testing we felt they lacked the stability needed to hold food ingredients and opted for something more robust. In addition to that, we also found that biodegradable plastics can be just as harmful, if not more harmful to the environment than recycled, non-biodegradable plastics. This is despite growing in popularity over the past few years.
We’ve made a conscious effort to make both our product packaging and shipping materials environmentally friendly. Most of our packaging and shipping materials are made from previously used recycled products, including single-use bags, bottles, plastic jars, cardboard boxes and other common household items. This means that they can also be recycled with ease.
We’re determined to continue researching how to be more sustainable as a small business and invite you to join us in that journey.
Are these products safe for allergy suffers?
For the most part yes. We have strict measures in place to ensure that cross contamination does not occur. We hold ourselves to a very high standard and only sell products that are natural, plant-based and responsibly source. However, we are still required to let customers know what allergens we handle on site even if the risk is nominal.
Please note: Our products are packaged on a premise that handles nuts, peanuts, soya and foods containing gluten.
Why do you have a peanut allergy warning for the hibiscus flowers?
The reason why we have a peanut allergy warning for our hibiscus flowers is due to how they are sometimes grown. Many regions use a traditional farming method called intercropping as a way to increase yield and reduce pests without the use of chemicals. This means that hibiscus is frequently planted side by side with peanut crops. While the risk of peanut traces is rare, we’ve still gone the extra step to put the warning there and let you know.
Do you ship internationally?
Unfortunately, we cannot deliver outside of the UK at this moment in time. We are working hard to make this possible and will make an announcement as soon as we do.
